Yes there is auth on by default for resources. You can use real accounts that need to be created or passwords or pins. And I think some id providers.
No, ridiculously easy with docker.
Then it follows the same principles as cloud flare. Create a site (vpn endpoint), get a docker snippet for a newt (what they call the vpn connector), paste it in the docker compose on your Homeserver and see it come up in the Webinterface.
Then you create a public resource and point it to said site and give it a url.
Done.
Ask me if you have questions
I tried homed once for a few workstations. Iirc I couldn’t make it work via network for multiple stations and multiple users. Something about the user creation process cam only be done once per home dir and then you can’t do another workstation.
It’s opensoursrso we should be able to roll back.
Pangolin on a vps.
Language just like culture is subject to constant change. It wouldn’t be censored in its entirety but changed. Because there are words that are bring used instead.
We can discuss if it’s necessary to change some words and I agree that some shouldn’t be changed. But some needed and need to be changed like the n word. The line of demarcation isn’t clear on these issues and depend on a conversation about societal norms.

2·12 days agoPangolin (or netbird) on the vps. I can recommend something with at least a gig of ram from ionos. The rest doesn’t matter. Then just paste the vpn snippet on the local service compose (assuming you are using docker) and be done with it. Works like a charm.

3·27 days agoI agree with you about leveraging ai. It didn’t seem like it from reading this post. I clicked through to the article and the stock photo was so embarrassingly generic and AI alike I left immediately.
I don’t think everything about ai Is evil unlike other people here but this takes it too far for my taste.

1·27 days agoTrue that it needs some expertise regarding security and backups but If it’s in the cloud aka someone else’s computer it’s with the NSA and all their friends and that is hardly better.

Ooof, scared me there for a second. Good thing I am using Dist-Upgrade in my ansible scripts.
