You mean he’ll also work to secure a temporary ceasefire to negotiate hostage returns, get humanitarian aid in, and allow civilians to escape?

Wait, that doesn’t sound like Trump…

What do you offer, besides a braindead binary reduction to make yourself feel morally superior?

“Anyway, here’s why you have to vote for the blue genocider instead of the red one” projection

If I still had any illusions about the hollowness of liberal rhetoric in the face of actual ethnic cleansing, this would have dispelled them. You are all Good Little Germans through and through, and you’ll be santimouniously goose-stepping into hell before you know it.

Go find yourself a pit, and save the civillized people of the world the trouble of burying you in it.

“The people outside looked from blue maga to red maga, and from red maga to blue maga, and from blue to red again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.”

I was going to vote for Biden but now I won’t because you acted with such brutal incivility. This is the most important election of our lives; democracy itself is on the ballot and you are turning people away from the polls before they’ve even opened. You are handing Trump the keys to the White House; you are ushering in the dark tide of fascism. Enjoy the next election, you have made it our last.

What exactly do you think the UN does? It has no power.

          Also: https://www.npr.org/2023/12/08/1218332312/israel-hamas-war-us-ceasefire-veto-un

After the vote, the U.S. deputy representative to the U.N., Robert Wood, said the resolution was rushed and ignored U.S. diplomatic efforts to get more aid into Gaza and free hostages taken by Hamas militants in the Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

“We propose language … that would have reinforced the life-saving diplomacy we have undertaken since Oct. 7, increased opportunities for humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, encourage the release of hostages and the resumption of humanitarian pauses and laid a foundation for a durable peace,” Wood said.

“Unfortunately, nearly all of our recommendations were ignored.”

The US still can stop military aid to Israel instead Biden is using his emergency powers to send them more weapons to kill Palestinians. Not to mention past ceasefires it vetoed. It obviously there will never be an agreeable ceasefire because the actions point to an intended genocide.

The problem is it’s not as simple as that. Hamas and Israel are at war. That’s an undisputed fact.

Israel is the US’s ally. Also an undisputed fact.

Joe Biden is an old politician and Catholic from an era where “Zion” is synonymous with Israel. Calling himself a Zionist, I suspect, is like calling himself a Christian with different words. But “Zionist” doesn’t mean the same thing anymore, and I bet he doesn’t fully grasp what he’s identifying with in a modern sense.

Additionally, and this is the political muck of it, were Israel’s ally. Typically, you honor your alliances. I don’t know why we’re so gung ho about the middle east and Israel, but alliances seem to mean something to heads of state, even if you don’t agree with the ally’s tactics. I’ve never been a President, so I don’t know what the political calculus is here, but I seriously doubt that genocide is Biden’s goal.

Israel does provide the US with strategic and geopolitical advantages. I would be okay if the US just came out and said that it doesn’t care about human rights or war crimes, the issue for many of us is the clear hypocrisy in the response between Ukraine and Palestine. Biden and the Democratic Party should also accept that many people in the US care about human rights and Palestine.

but I seriously doubt that genocide is Biden’s goal

                I don’t. https://theintercept.com/2021/04/27/biden-israeli-invasion-lebanon/

Begin said he was shocked at how passionately Biden supported Israel’s invasion when Biden “said he would go even further than Israel, adding that he’d forcefully fend off anyone who sought to invade his country, even if that meant killing women or children.” Begin said, “I disassociated myself from these remarks,” adding: “I said to him: No, sir; attention must be paid. According to our values, it is forbidden to hurt women and children, even in war. Sometimes there are casualties among the civilian population as well. But it is forbidden to aspire to this. This is a yardstick of human civilization, not to hurt civilians.” The comments were striking from Begin, who had been notorious as a leader of the Irgun, a militant group that carried out some of the worst acts of ethnic cleansing accompanying the creation of the state of Israel, including the 1948 Deir Yassin massacre.

So we’re in the position where a sitting US president is making speeches using words he doesn’t understand? Wow, that does not seem great. Maybe we should have a president who knows what words mean, you know?

Also, I have to admit, I don’t care if someone has genocide as a goal or not. I care a bit more about their actions. Will a person’s actions lead to more genocide? If so, then I think that person should be removed from power, immediately, regardless of what they think about genocide.

The UN does have the power to impose sanctions and a ceasefire.

That power is subject to veto by the US.

            Which vetoed it.

        points at objective reality

Multiple republicans are at least calling to stop funding the genocide. It’s for dumbshit reasons like not being enough of a fascist on the border but Joe is literally going farther than many republicans in supporting the ongoing genocide.

Also you’re commenting on an article quoting him bragging about how much he supports it, I know liberals are pretty experienced in ignoring what Biden says so they can pretend he’s more progressive but like, what do you mean prove it your commenting on an article where he said it.

Obviously the only ideology in either case is fealty to capital, but Republicans blocking Joe’s attempt at getting Israel more funding is objectively at least slightly to the left of getting Israel more funding, meanwhile anyone can tell you that “try to get the other guy’s President impeached” has become an increasingly regular feature of political theater, and yet you use motivated reasoning to say that the former doesn’t count while the latter is indicative of an ideological divide and not just a way that parties now like promoting their brand.

I don’t particularly respect galaxybrained takes about Republicans somehow being overall more progressive than Dems, but pretending that Dems are progressive is just sad.

To be clear didn’t read any of that horseshit past your first sentence because clearly it would be a waste of time.

So everybody has an idea of how much energy to waste trying to have conversations with you I wan a make this really clear. Are you saying there is no objective way to know whether or not Biden said he is a zionist who will fully support Isreal here?

Because if that’s the case I think you’re confusing “objective reality” for “literacy”

Because we’re literally commenting on an article that directly quotes Joe Biden as saying that.

So unless you’re saying what Biden says has no connection to reality (you could probably get somewhere with this but pretty sure that’s not your point) not really sure what you’re backup is.

Epistemic fallacy, non sequitur, strawman fallacy, goalpost moving.

His argumentation was clear in that it was directed at questioning one, and only one, attribute mentioned by you, specifically:

Then again Biden himself is not anymore progressive or any less Zionist than any Republican candidate, he is to the right of many of them. [emphasis mine]

You, on the other hand, argued for:

Then again Biden himself is not anymore progressive or any less Zionist than any Republican candidate, he is to the right of many of them. [emphasis mine]

Which is neither valid as a reply, nor is it relevant to the raised issue.

According to 90% of both parties in the house criticism of the state of Isreal is anti semitism so if you wanna get mad at somebody for conflating terms go yell at a liberal.

Also love that you’re trying the argument that him saying he’s a zionist doesn’t necessarily mean he supports what Isreal is doing, conveniently ignoring the second half of his sentence was “which is why I will continue to support Isreal in what they are doing”

Also just so you know when you come in here, insist we have to vote for Biden, say that Biden saying “I’m a zionist which is why I will continue to support isreals war” doesn’t mean that Biden supports what Isreal is doing, tell us to go fuck ourselves, and then tell us we dont understand how anything works that just confirms everybody already pretty firmly held beliefs that you’re full of shit and not worth engaging with, and deffinitly not worth supporting your candidates.
