  • The issue with what you did is that your data or info will get eventually replicated, but it has negligible chances of ending up on a site you deem worthy with the reddit debacle in mind.

Social sites come and go. Information is somewhat more important and valuable.

That is why most of what was done “aganist” reddit was a pretty rash decision. Congrats, you fucked (or at least tried) over reddit and now this info will eventually become available on the next shitty platform in line.

Not like you need traction on lemmy because it is full of barely alive subs even now. Sure, just get rid of info out of personal anger towards a platform…

  • You might be lacking basic understanding of tribal politics and economics then. In a tribal setting you have to neutralise the other tribe, as you do not have a standing army. Any conflict you get into, you are “conscripting” your entire male population.

In every kind of tribal conflict ever, regardless of having the moral upperhand, it was a bogstandard way of conduct. You dont have men to be stationed in enemy territory, that is the manpower that is NEEDED in the fields the second its time to sow or reap, so you dont fucking starve.

So any conflict comes around, you need to make sure that once its over, you will be left the f alone. You have to really hit it home. Maybe thats not obvious, but the clans in this context are probably not NATO or even UN members. :)

  • Lemmy is not reddit. You can get lemmy instances as toxic as you want, it wont fuck up the rest of the community half as much.

Other than that, it is also not promoting that behaviour in the first place. Reddit inadvertently went that way because they were aiming on the monetisation front.

Moderators there are also incentivised to be greedy fucks. Hungarian community on /r/hungary never got on the next level because the mods do not want to fucking give up control to specialized subreddits. It is a valuable turf that has access to hundreds of thousands of citizens in a single place.

On lemmy you dont want to use a crappy client that does not give you a proper set of options among all instances.
