Yes I’m aware someone would criticize that move. The ship has sailed on ethical consumption under capitalism, brother/sister. Tired, hungry, and now angry and annoyed, I wasn’t trying to figure out which evil company would benefit least from my $25.

I recently got off a long international flight and decided I was tired and hungry enough to eat at a Taco Bell for the first time in years. I pulled up and was faced with an AI speaker instead of the system I’ve lived my entire life using at all fast food drive throughs. I loudly said “Im not talking to fucking AI” and promptly drove to the chick fil a right next door and talked to a human face to face to order.

I rarely eat fast food so I’ve since learned they usually have someone monitoring the system to fix its mistakes. I also assume they record it all so I should have let them know they’ve lost a customer for life. Granted I didn’t go enough to really matter anyway, but that will be the last time and I’ll make sure I let the next chain know if this happens again.

I’d rather have a touch screen in the drive thru and all the problems that come with that than have a fucking toaster talk to me and be the gatekeeper of my food order.

If/when the day finally comes I’m assuming there will be resources of the options available, perhaps even a megathread here. Or I’ll just look into what’s out there myself. But I think it’s fair for the fediverse to be championing the biggest FOSS front runner. But I do appreciate you putting another option on my radar.

You’re missing the early days when plex lifetime pass was ~$50usd and jellyfin wasn’t a thing (that I know of). I believe Kodi was the only real competitor at the time, and it was much less friendly.

Plex has slowly moved in a less user friendly direction, but still meets my needs and I’ve easily gotten over $750 in value from the…almost 20 years, wow…I’ve been using it.

She’s actually a really good dog, making me think she was someone else’s before I found her. Has lots of good manners I didn’t have to train into her. She does get distracted in play settings with other dogs or squirrels to chase, which is understandable.

She recognizes the sound of plastic food bowls knocking together and thinks it means food is coming. She’s constantly evaluating what the earliest possible sign of meal time is to start her hype mode.

Both, yes, and they get the next biggest reaction after food related words. She’s a 40lb walking power plant.

Add onto that the de facto American policy that private citizens are on their own, circumstances be damned, while the capitalist interests get rescued every time their greed and other missteps hurt their ability to compete in the sacred free market and maybe you can see why people are less than charitable with how they perceive these events.
