32·5 days agoHow debian is lightweight ? Isn’t it have too many bloats pre-installed ?
A distro i can build myself is actually lightweight. Like Arch or Void.

1·6 days agoTumbleweed is good but everytime I debloat it via the myrlyn in installation window, it breaks and fail to boot. Have issues with ctrl+alt+f2. No built in recovery tools like fedora or maybe i can’t find it if it’s there.
The packages are updated as a group which means no matter how much i debloat, it will always return. I fear using addlock can cause any dependency issues also.

21·6 days agoNot for modern hardware from my experience. Instead of suggesting one distribution, I would say Debian for some old hardware models and fedora is the sweet spot for modern hardware.

4·21 days agoBut with a always on VPN they constantly ask to verify our identity, even with passkey or phone number.
Even when I successfully verify my passkey, they will still sent a SMS code to my recovery number. It’s almost impossible to bypass that step and try another method button redirect again to the same phone verification page. If I didn’t give my number, then this message appears, “there is not enough information to prove this is your account. try again later.”
Maybe VPN is a factor that triggering their security system.

54·21 days agoBecause many services only have SMS as 2FA option. Especially government services.
Also it is impossible to use google without enabling the SMS 2FA option. No matter what, with only 2FA authenticator app or email, they will lock down the account by saying “unable to verify”.
No, there are chances a bot might leave the bot account option unchecked. In such cases mods or users who detect such an account will ban or block it, I think.
There is an option in settings to turn off bot accounts. Right?
In my opinion, lemmy is far better than reddit.
Also you are in a more popular instance, that can also be a reason you are seeing more bot accounts.

11·2 months agoI said these browsers currently allow installing MV2 extensions; I didn’t predict about the future. Ok, ungoogled chromium will remove the flag in the future, and it can also affect helium. But it’s in the future; currently that flag is still there.
Brave is sued for its shady practices, ok! But we are talking about the installation of Manifest V2 extensions in the Chromium-based browsers, which the title explicitly says Firefox is the only browser that now allows you to install ublock origin, which is misleading. Brave still supports ublock origin, no matter if someone hates the browser or someone found it self-hosted.
So what do you guys find bad about me mentioning Brave? Also please mention a word: I’m saying these browsers are going to support MV2 extensions (ublock origin) forever.

Why someone need bgm to feeling something? So what about real time incidents happening infront of us? Do someone play bgm at the exact moment?

By bloat I mean specifically those kde applications and games that almost all beginner friendly distros bundle in.
