Now you may say, “Aha, we have you hyperbolic hexbears now, it clearly says that the president doesn’t just get to shut it down until they figure out ‘what the hell is going on’!”

Which is correct. What it does is tie their hands such that they must shut the border down when an arbitrary number is reached, so they don’t have to actually do anything and can plead their powerlessness when it happens. After all it’s not up to them, it’s just a mandate of a conservative law… that they want to pass.

What’s more it makes me suspicious of you.

Nobody seems to recall how we got here, how this move was being pulled by the same people 4 years ago, except then it was begging for you to sympathize with the poor migrants being caged on the border. AOC even cried and got some beautiful PR photos made.

Now it’s all secure the border and pass the Republican plan to lock it down and hand every subsequent president the button to immediately shut the border down at their discretion.

If we assume polling is an accurate indicator then depending on the state you live in voting at all is pointless because only one party will win.

Were you stepping aside and letting the fascists strip minority rights in 2020? Because they appear to be doing that currently, and presumably you voted for Joe who is president while that is happening.

My state hasn’t approved De la Cruz for the ballot, I could write her in. I’m not sure how busy I’ll be that day though so it’s hard to predict what I’ll have time for.

Yeah I keep having this morbid intrusive thought that maybe soon a horrible crash will happen and a bunch of people’s lives will be ruined, thus offering me an opportunity to get into housing.

Kinda sick how the entire system nudges you into wishing tragedy on everyone else so you can benefit, because nothing else will be done.

At least that means they will stop using the “wE can PuSh HiM lEfT” line they kept trotting out last tune around, it’s too incredible for even them to believe. I very much prefer him running with no platform and just shrugging off questions about why anyone should do this again. It’s more honest at least.

Because humans aren’t legal or illegal? Because it’s exclusively applied in a way to people who resemble a certain ethnicity? Because it’s dehumanizing language that works to subconsciously justify treating them as criminals even if they didn’t do anything wrong?

It’s language used to criticize an entire group of people out of hand.

If you have a criticism of the Democrats you should probably do a bunch of gymnastics to absolve them of any duty to help the public and then vote for them blindly forever.

I like to think about the historical perspective. It’s not much consolation but systems like these can’t maintain themselves forever, cracks are showing and the US really is more vulnerable than people would like to admit.

Once things start changing there will likely be a lot of problems, things will probably get worse in some ways, but I think even if I don’t survive to see what people come up with in the aftermath of the US I can get satisfaction from seeing it burn.

When you read history you learn humans are very resilient, humans will not end when the empire does. Maybe the failure of this place will be good for the world.
