The problem currently is that it looks cheap and out of place a lot of the time. I have seen quite a few games that use GenAI to add Assets and more to their game and currently it boiled down to these options:

1. imagery: random posters of some imaginery bands with unreadable text that looked like far higher quality than the rest of the assets in game. Also the imagery itself has no concurrency, everything looks different and nothing fits together
2. LLM: the LLM conversations in the games have two major problems that nobody solved: the NPCs in the conversations respond with information that doesn’t fit the game (e.g. saying things like “meet me in the park tomorrow”) and of course the NPC is not in the park. The second problem is that the games can’t interpret the responses, so they are completely dry. It destroys the immersion

The first problem can already be solved, but it takes a lot of work to get to the point where everything looks like it fits your game. I don’t think anyone will complain about GenAI when everything fits your game.

But don’t forget: We are talking about MtG here. WOTC sells MtG cards for an insanely high price and the art is something that makes the cards somewhat worth the price. MtG using GenAI would be just wrong.

From one Datacenter? Yes. If you put all datacenters into the sea? Definitely not. And if the Bitcoin scumbags decide that this is a good idea and built huge mining farms underwarer it’s even worse. Datacenters are one of the biggest contributors to energy need already, taking up 1-1.3% of global energy demand. That’s no joke

Why would they keep it on? Sure, they will continue to collect data for their AI, but I’m pretty sure they are happy that they don’t want to keep it on if it might drive you to use other search engines. And turn it back on after a few versions of optimization

Companies don’t exist out of generosity. When Spotify looses money from non-premium users, they obviously want to encourage you to buy premium. They probably had to make the decision to play more ads or do this and decided that this makes more sense

Exactly, price is higher of course but specs are midrange. But buying a phone for 700€ and then using it for 5 years is a lot better than buying one for 400€ for 2 years

I think thats whats going to happen. Fairphones are mid-range, but a midrange phone is enough for everything nowadays. The only reason I want to switch my phone right now is because the fingerprint sensor is broken

There are now soooo many studies out showing that capacity in EVs drops significantly slower than ever expected. An EV that is used “normal” is basically best-case for Li-Ion batteries. You are charging the car once to twice a week and then you are charging it slowly over night or at your office, only using fast-charging when you are on roadtrips. You rarely drop your battery percentage below 30% and a lot of cars also dont go higher than 90% capacity without you explicitly activating it

I think for it to be fair use under American law they would need to give full credit, which they obviously don’t.
