Does your laptop run free software boot firmware? If not, it has the same issues as a phone, if not more. No smartphone runs fully free firmware.
I transcribe posts over on c/microblogmemes along with whatever else i feel like transcribing

Android is a very secure system, but that comes with some compromises such as customizability and development features. Both of which are important to the Lineage OS project. Also running Lineage OS is not any more insecure then running a Linux or Windows desktop without secure boot, which many people do without issue
Or you can take a Duck. Then get one more Duck. Then you can Go.
There is also Lineage OS. It’s not as secure but it is compatible with the most amount of devices.
I kind of like the idea of using Edge for google.com and Chrome for microsoft.com.
Dang, just use Firefox. It’s so much easier then this
Well pretty much all computers have a backdoor to the CPU. That hasn’t been proven for Pixel phones though.
Use a Pixel phone. No more sketchy then any other popular phone manufacturer
I can’t think of any desktop environments that are ugly or hard to use out of the box
I don’t think it’s the distros job to look visually appealing. That’s the job of the desktop environment. Seriously I wish distributions would just ship vanilla desktop environments. All of the themed variants always have some issues. Maybe I’m just old and stubborn but that’s my opinion.
Not fediverse, but a personal website on Neocities is customizable
It would be an enemy aircraft hovering above the trees with a flamethrower, threatening to burn them down
This. And it doesn’t only apply to companies. I have a personal blog with a couple accessibility issues that I haven’t bothered to fix because I’ve built a lot of my CSS around my bad HTML. Part of the issue is that I built my site as a school project for a web design class I was taking, so code quality wasn’t great. One day I might redesign it better, but I don’t have the energy for now.
Because that is what it will take to dethrone YouTube.
I think YouTube will eventually end up destroying itself. It’s not a profitable business model to just run some ads. The amount of storage, bandwidth, and processing power a video host requires is massive.
Worse case scenario, we gotta make an extension that detects the ad UI and blanks the screen and mutes the audio until its over
Blockbuster is now too big to fail, and too big to be replaced.
Wild that Wells Fargo would issue computers that would allow people to install anything on them.
That’s a very common thing. I don’t know a single company or organization that prevents executables from running. You don’t have to install programs to use them, it’s just that most software ships installers
Funnily enough an accounting teacher I had used Wells Fargo
Never heard of IntelliSync, I’ve used HotSync though
Should’ve just killed them all at Neuralink. That’s what they specialize in
Framework doesn’t have free boot firmware either and it contains the Intel ME (the backdoor in Intel CPU’s). The point I am trying to make is that you won’t find a perfect solution anywhere.
