The only good people are people who are brave enough to actively test their beliefs and earnestly question their own ideology (and accept that they even have one).
Almost no one does this. People often even say they “don’t have an ideology”. Its convenient, if you have no belief system there is nothing to question.
While no doubt it may be that most users of DuckDuckGo are anti-AI given the nature of the service and who it attracts, the 90% metric makes me believe that the people who ambivalently use DuckDuckGo’s AI (and are not pro or anti) did not vote in this at all and may find themselves using DuckDuckGo less if they see the surface-level convenience randomly disappear from the service.
So I assume they’ll get rid of the AI and they’ll see a drop in users overtime as a percentage of minimum effort types get confused or annoyed. And then they’ll bring it back as they see a drop in users, annoy the users that hate AI and they’ll leave as well. And neither group will end up ever returning.
This whole poll was a terrible idea.
The savings will also lead to the corporation’s profits to decline in the mid term, and then the savings will actually go to private equity and hedge funds, not the shareholders.
That’s because more than half of the country is some combination of evil and/or retarded.
The problem is that by its very existence and prevalence you have to contend with religion’s bullshit effecting your life.
So honestly you should be against people being religious and try and discourage it. Though yeah its not super helpful to look at individual religious people and hate them openly. That’s a good way to just harden them right back against you.
This kind of thing is coming for Android as well once Google has converted it to it’s own walled garden bullshit.

On the other hand, if Youtube itself takes it away from me I’m going to just stop watching Youtube.
I know that this is all just theater to just destroy any semblance of free speech and privacy on the internet but if I’m completely honest I also don’t even understand people who freak out about kids looking at porn. Like, I get protecting children obviously from predators (fucking Roblox), but also I saw hardcore porn on the internet super early when I was like 8 and the only trauma I ever felt was the fear of being caught looking at it by my parents, who were otherwise pretty chill about me seeing really violent media.
And before me and the internet, kids were looking at their grampa’s/dad’s porn magazines or finding it in the woods or getting some 18 year old to buy it for them. It was harder but I’m telling you they found it.
I feel like a bigger concern for kids right now is microplastics, lead poisoning, and climate change and you don’t see nearly the same hysteria about that shit in mainstream politics.
I did not look that deep. Its not been important enough since again I mostly have been using my Deck more than my Desktop anyway.
Performance is still noticeably worse. Based on some cursory research, the 4070 Super gets like ~20% less FPS on Bazzite compared to Windows on a 4070 Super and I tend to play high fidelity shooters on my desktop so frames per second matters.
IDK I liked 7 pretty much as much as I like XP. For me it was 10 that was just alright.
My brother convinced me to switch to 11 when I built my most recent gaming desktop and I somewhat regret listening to him but I know dual booting is a waste of time for me and I’m not quite ready to make the full jump to Linux because my desktop has a 4070 Super. It’ll ahve to wait until my next PC. Fortunately, I don’t have the version of 11 with Recall pre-installed at least.
I use my Steam Deck more than my gaming desktop these days anyway.

I don’t know who the bad guy is here because closing the source a while back makes me distrust this dev yet also I 100% believe Linux users (or at least the power users) are almost certainly insufferable in ways that would drive a reasonable dev out of development for Linux.
The thing is, he is referencing specifically a model that recently demonstrated (to its developers at least) the ability to self improve without direct human input. But obviously there are caveats to what that actually means.
That he is referencing something specific and recent though makes me think he’s being genuine here, he believes what he is saying.
Obviously, hes almost certainly jumping the gun. Hes demonstrated a lack of critical thinking when it comes to new technological developments. See: all the money he dumped into VR and the Metaverse. (I say this as much as I personally like VR, its not exactly a money maker)
I see some commenters here pointing out that he is a coder, but he’s probably not coded anything for more than a decade at this point. He is fully immersed in the Silicon Valley koolaid, only he seems to use more public facing optimism about AI compared to other CEOs.

I mean, I’ve interacted with someone with active anti-semitic beliefs in a dedicated debate space who eventually changed his views to “Well, its not the Jews fault that they got into finance. They just kind of got funneled into that.” So absolutely people with shitty views can evolve in the right direction. I respect that a million times more than someone who is morally lucky and never budges.
And example of the opposite would be someone who adopts progressive stances of their time and never evolved from there or have selective self serving progressive blinders. “LGB w/o the T”, rainbow capitalists, Red-brown alliance types, etc.
