I was laughing along until you said “watching a stream (even without commentary)”. Yeah I’ve done that one. Sometimes I want to see what’s next in the game without spending 100 hours to get there ><. Also watching lets me mentally unwind, playing takes a mental toll.
None if you don’t get caught. They’re not going to do a full investigation if you don’t try to murder the guy. Also, look how badly the current FBI fumbled the investigation into Charlie Kirk’s killer? into Brian Thompson’s killer?
Even if you wanted the AI to have a conversation with the user, like in sci-fi visions of the future, why does that affect the output of the machine? If you really wanted to make an AI grift version of a vending machine, just graft a chatbot on a screen stop the section where you make selections and pay. This whole bubble is absurd.
I’ve seen a handful of stories about Apple and Google locking people out of their entire digital lives. I think the reason people seem not to care is that most people don’t have the mental bandwidth to go against the grain and move their entire lives off of Apple and Google services, especially when they bought into these devices with the hope of making their lives easier.
Truly, most people don’t realize how dependent they are on megacorps. I’ve been finding that out repeatedly over the last year. I thought I was good because I don’t pay for streaming services, buy video games, or order Amazon delivery… then I took inventory and realized how much I actually relied on YouTube, Twitch, Google Drive, and GitHub.
Sometimes I’ll pop open Mega Man 1 when my blood pressure is too high to focus on anything. I plan to no-hit it one day (without major glitches)

Bigger picture: The whole way people talk about talking about mental health struggles is so weird. Like, I hate this whole generative AI bubble, but there’s a much bigger issue here.
Speaking from the USA, “suicidal ideation” is treated like terrorist ideology in this weird corporate-esque legal-speak with copy-pasted disclaimers and hollow slogans. It’s so absurdly stupid I’ve just mentally blocked off trying to rationalize it and just focus on every other way the world is spiraling into techno-fascist authoritarianism.
This is exactly it. For Westerners just feeling the weight of the military-industrial complex, this feels unbelievable. The reality is, we were ignorant. Maybe we knew that Bush invaded Iraq, and had seen the pictures of Obama’s drone strikes in Yemen, but seeing those events could never match the daily toll of knowing you’re being targeted every single day. The few times that these crises bled onto US soil (Kent State, killings of George Floyd and Brianna Taylor, police brutality at BLM protests, Jan 6th insurrection) it felt like an unbelievable atrocity, but this was what the anti-war movement was trying to highlight.

The way that all this “AI” processing has been trained, it almost always fails for anyone who doesn’t fit the white middle-class aesthetic. Voice-to-text generative AI processing will screw up for people with accents, including non-native speakers; also someone who slurs their words, or talks in African-American Vernacular English. Also, it requires someone to know how to speak and listen in a language. Clicking on icons and inputting commands is the same regardless of what language you speak. This just reeks of out-of touch nepo-baby executives.

I’m reading it that way, too. It’s unfortunate wording, but if you read past the first statement, he’s clearly discussing the attacks on Palestine by Israel. Immediately after that opening, Zohran writes “Relentless Israeli bombardment of Palestinians”; using “Israeli” to mean {enacted by Israel}. I’m going to go with the best and say that Zohran writing “Israeli hostages” means {hostages Israel held} and not {hostages from Israel}.

I also don’t watch TV or movies – only Twitch streams. I’ve been this way even when not beaten down by capitalism and fascism though.
