I love ixalan generally and I still hope it will become a good set. Dinosaurs and pirates and sailors? Hell yeah.

But there is so much going on already. Multiple set names, shitty Universes Beyond that only deserve the bin in my opinion, then multiple alt frames as well as some multicolored neon staff. Then the normal cards that are spoilered are adventures and dfcs.

Uff, just give me normal cards please and I will buy this product. Put people with baseball caps in it and 20 alt frames and I will pass/ only buy a few singles.

  • Ingenium prodigy seems strong. Would love this to try out in modern human deck. Bit even in commander or a casual setting there is a lot do do with it. Can play this in co troll decks, midrange decks, and works well with proliferate and anything counter related. It shrinks as you draw from it, giving you a nice drawback and interesting play patterns especially with skulk, which gets better the smaller the creature gets.

Virtue of loyalty seems like a card that will see play in a lot of eh decks.

Virtue of knowledge also seems strong, I will probably get one for my Blink EDH deck. Additional [[Parhelion]] effects are always welcome.

  • Finally some spoilers. I could have use for Stroke of midnight for Commander. The rest seems pretty good, but nothing super special yet. Lord skitters blessing seems really good, and food fight could make for a funny deck. Return of adventures was expected and is good. I am actually looking forward for this set. I just hope they don’t meme too hard with gingerbreads and stuff, so that the set does not become a parody.

Yeah I also miss the times when 60 card casual/standard/extended decks were the norm. Today you go to a LGS and everyone just plays Commander, which is fine, but is is sad to me that nobody plays their 60 card decks anymore, like for example a fair elf deck. Because of this, I am forced to build Commander decks myself and my 60-cards non-competitive decks became a little bit useless. A lot of those decks are very cool, that’s why I also dislike Commander a bit.

For Commander, just build Tax and Stax and live off the tears and anger of your enemies. The less fun they have, the more I do. Nothing better than jamming a winter orb on the table and see 3 grown men REEEE :)

Just look at the names and pictures. Almost everything will suck. They jump around between very narrow stereotypical themes like crazy. If they had announced just 3 bloomburrow sets, I think people would have been much more happy.

I can imagine a meeting at wotc hq. Discussion about s new upcoming set. Someone: “hey how about we make a set in a western setting?” And he got promoted and everyone stood up and cheered and was crying about his genius mind

Oh wait but it will be like this: Karen’s of Tarkir: top down set playing inside a fast food restaurant about a fist fight there because of a cancelled marriage. Coming with McDonald’s universe Beyond featuring a worldwide one exclusive copy printed of Ronald McDonald in a special MrPringle Holoynovaspectral foil treatment.

Llorwyn: Dieselpunk Typals. 2000 years have passed and humans have since invaded llorwyn and there is a war and many Planeswalkers form an alliance to win the war on the same introduced set. Also the phyrexians invade but somehow lose very quickly. Elves are not racist anymore but somehow extremely inclusive, so that nobody feels uncomfortable anymore playing with them. Also faeries use Diesel engines now to fly. All in one Set. There will be two aftermath sets with each 5 new cards, showing random Dieselpunk stuff, in 3 card boosters for 20€ each, with a chance of a Toyota UB treatment card.

It is an absolutely Freakshow. I mean I love western, but I am not excited about a “western plane”. They are trying too hard. Just make a big immersive plane where there are also regions similar to the wild west. I hate “let’s do thing X as a plane” design. No immersion there.

Then two sets are about a mansion, like wtf, and then, two useless UB sets.

Only the animal world and MH3 could be neat. And I hoped there would be no more MH sets anymore.
