TIL then I guess. If I imagine someone saying this in a US accent, I just can’t picture it haha

Are we Australians rubbing off on the international English lexicon? I don’t know how to feel about this haha

End capitalism. It’s no coincidence all these countries are pushing this in lockstep.
End goal is the death of online freedom.
Get angry, get involved in your local politics to bring democracy to the workplace and the economy.
It’s not gonna get better otherwise.

If they try to retire classic outlook I’m gonna riot.
Windows 11 is bad and I was unhappy when I got moved onto it, but is bearable. New outlook is unusable if you get a large number of emails every day for work.
They decided: let’s rebuild it with none of the features!!

It’s funny because in Australia it’s even non-religious (well the churches I’ve heard of).
That’s how based the UU is.
All be welcome, yo.
Seek the truth and serve humanity.

The irony of having this in the middle of the article

From one socialist (me) to another (you, presumably), the lemmy.ml hate comes from:
I like Lemmy, but can at the same time dislike people who like things I consider to be authoritarian, even if those people created the platform in the first place.
Viewing lemmy.ml content on ‘All-Top’ is a rather happy medium for me, still get to see some of the best memes

America is a capitalist hellscape, but so is China.
Unions and strikes in-practice are banned.
They seem kinda equivalent on workers rights, to me.

I’m with you on being against capitalism, but UBI isn’t convincing as a solution to me.
UBI pre-supposes that the rich and their corporations should have a monopoly on the means of production, and you still have capitalism, just that the population are guaranteed an income via high taxes. But the power structure, and undemocratic nature of capitalist controlling everything still exists.
UBI is some dystopian stuff if you don’t combine it with getting rid of the ruling class and the other tools of capitalist oppression.
But yeah, I agree with you that we certainly ought to be working less than we are (yes, even if standards of living were more fairly distributed to poor countries), and in the future I also agree with you that we ought to be working way, way less of technology allows for it.
No worries friend :)
You can place things anywhere down to the pixel, not just snapped to a grid like with Nova (though, there is option for a grid of apps, also).
It’s a bit of fiddly process if it’s complicated, but you can layer and place things however you want.
There is no dock, you can however pin items to show on every screen, which is basically the same thing, so that would also fit that criterion.
Also 4 swipe directions on icons for extra shortcuts beyond tap (last I used nova, it was just up and down? It’s been many years).
Basically, can highly recommend Total Launcher, though in fairness, I have not tried some of the other launchers listed by others here.
The one time fee for pro is pretty affordable, iirc. The Dev is also pretty responsive via email
If crazy levels of customisation is the reason you use it, Total Launcher did the trick for me.

World governments: I feel so unappreciated for all the help I continuously provide ☹️

They do actually have an in-built skip for this. It’s not as good as sponsor block though

If your software runs on windows or MacOS, this point is such bull, sorry.
Do you monitor what software people have installed accessing their banking needs on those platforms?

Me every day at work.
It’s even worse working in the company’s network drive.
But damn, it often takes ages for a right click to appear in the goddamned downloads folder (which is in its default C drive location…)
I feel you pain friend.
I like it at the top of the view-port, but I agree the auto-hiding/showing feature is excruciating.

Best part is, they don’t even have to go to court, this sort of thing can be taken to your state or territory’s administrative tribunal, which costs peanuts to file with, and it’s extremely common to represent yourself. Hence why it’s an extremely effective threat when you’re obviously in the right, like in this case.
Basically Umart is fucked and Australian Consumer Law is really not shabby :)

It might not be legal, but it’s already morally acceptable to shoplift from Coles and Woolworths
I just don’t because it would be a massive pain if I were to be caught
Thank you for somewhat restoring my head cannon haha
