I needed a SATA SSD for my raspberry pi 4 connected via usb3.
I am a home user.

Did spez change his name to AI?

Yes. There’s a crease in the middle of the screen.
But its invisible to the user when looking at the screen.
It doesnt impact using the screen.
Its barely there on the latest fold 7. Definitely more prominent as you go back through the versions. Regardless i have owned 3 generations of the phone and used my wife’s one so 4 generations total and the crease doesn’t matter. Hasnt mattered on any of them.
What do you think the problem is with there being a crease? What practical issue does it raise? Or is it purely an aesthetic issue? Becaus3 if it is, like i said, you cant see it when you are the one using it.

I had my fold 3 for 4 years and my wife used it to get a feel for them after me and she very quickly got a 5. I had some of the paint chip off in places after a few years and one time that i got scared by something and jumped a bit and threw it out of my hand to the ground with the inner screen open (only cosmetic damage to the body) it survived a lot. A hell of a lot of engineering went into the hinge so its pretty much the strongest part of the phone. Jerryrigeverything on youtube has tried to snap these phones and they are very strong and so far have not broken in one of his tests.
Any phone can break, but i say if you care for your phone it should last. The 3 onwards have been really solid phones and the fears around them, to me, seem made up.

After reading through the comments and seeing the majority of people are commenting negatively but have never had a folding phone. i feel like i should chime in.
I have owns a fold 3 a fold 6 and now a fold 7, my wife has a fold 5 and we have never had one fail on us. No broken screens, no scratches or bugs. There are also several people where i work who have had at least 2 generations of these phones and also have never had issues.
I know these things break, but so does any phone. Phones breaking tend to be a user problem and not a hardware one. If you dont handle with care then you are the problem.
In fact i have only ever broken 1 phone in my 20+ years of using them and it was entirely my fault. I put it on a book on a table, then without thinking i lifted the book and it slid off and landed in a bucket of water. Pixel 1 not waterproof. My bad.
I guess i just think people are quick to judge these phones without ever having used one and i think thats so short sighted.
I am following through. Prepped a mint boot drive and have a 1tb ssd on its way. Gonna dual boot for a bit but gonna try to move to mint as a daily driver. Because fuck windows
Ive been getting a taste of linux setting up a few raspberry Pis. Its been really fun and it got me looking at installing a linux distro on my PC. Probably ubuntu or ive heard good things about mint.

You should publish a study

Neither did mine :)

Dont forget its full of pedos

Thats awesome. And really tidy, ive only just started making something like this and it already looks like this:

I hope you are doing your bit to stop it. You are clearly passionate about it. I just worry that too many people feel hopeless because it looks worse than it really is, which is the very tool the fascists need to win. Much like you say, apathy and inaction is what will destroy the world.
I am sorry to see so many downvoting me during this exchange. I don’t feel like i oppose your views, i just have a different perspective. I think its healthy to allow others views to help to shape your own. Even if all it does it reaffirms your already held beliefs. If i was to think of an example of this, i would compare it to the characters in always sunny in philadelphia. They are not the heroes of the story, they are assholes, they are a charicature example of what not to be. They reaffirm my position against that type of person and those types of views.
I hope you are safe over there. Its a scary place to live right now, or at least it seems it from the outside looking in.

Ok, so, you are not a fascist country, you are a country run by fascists with fascists in it. But this doesn’t represent the values of the entire population. Especially when trump rigged the election (by his own admission) that means that not even the majority are fascists. And then you have to exclude all those who voted for trump because they were duped by his campaign who aren’t fascist and are just more republican and 4ight leaning than left.
I feel the same way about israel and palestine. We are quick to speak to the separation of hamas and palestine as a whole, but when it comes to israel, the same voices are shouting its the whole country and not just a genocidal organisation and their followers.
I think its an important distinction.

Thats a fine argument, and i agree with you. But I’m not talking about people who understand the implication behind naming the country and not the individuals. I am specifically saying that there are swathes of people who hear the word israel and its not a government, its not a country, its a terrorist, its a more abstract scary monster thing and for those people, it shifts blame from the government, to the country as a whole. Just like what happened with antifa. Antifa doesnt mean anti fascist to idiots. It means terrorist.

Are you a fascist?

Ok, but fascism is wildly popular in the USA right now. Would you make the same argument there?
Or, like me, are you more inclined towards believing that more likely a few terrible people in power have sway with a vast number of easily led racists and that mischaracterises the whole country?

Maybe instead of everyone calling it isreal and palestine, they should say the isreali government and innocent people.
They should say Netanyahu is committing genocide.
Saying israel instead of directly naming the culprits is sort of like when people say antifa. In the case of antifa it makes bad actors able to demonise the word and make it seem like a bad thing, so it can be used to twist peoples minds and make them think its a bad thing.
In the case of this genocide, it dehumanises the people committing the atrocities and diverts blame to the word instead of the people. Which has the effect of people like Netanyahu being able to reassociate the word with the israeli people and the jews.
So it absolutely isnt antisemitic to say israel is committing genocide, but it is unhelpful to divert the blame from the real asshats in charge.

Think they worked out that using the IP instead of the hostname solved it.
Yeah, cant do any transcoding though, but i dont need 4k for everything. Though as long as my client can play the format of the video then theres no issue. It would be easier with a mini PC but im enjoying learning linux and really liking the rasberry pi in general.
In terms of SSD. I could use a HDD. But it comes with 2 disadvantages. 1 is that media i copy from other devices to the drive takes A LOT longer to transfer. And 2, i have a big clunky HDD on my desk next to my 5 inch Pi… just makes more sense to use an SSD.
But essentially i guess its just not great to assume that there is no use case for them for home users just because you dont have a use case for them personally.
