Every safety rule is written in blood but due to no one getting hurt (because of said rules) people begin to think the rules aren’t necessary.

It’s the same concept with preventative measures like vaccines. Vaccines worked to the point we had an entire generation grow up in a world without the most common forms of debilitating diseases and as a result we now have anti-vaxxers everywhere.

It’s even prevalent in things like the hole in the ozone layer. When it was first discovered EVERYONE was panicking about it. But then we fixed it to the point some people think it was never really a problem at all.

I love that it shows that humans naturally wish to congregate and aid each other.

I hate that it allows the worst types of people to gain influence because humans in general are easily misguided and manipulated.

Gestures at the current state of America

Mix of both.

I got perma banned for telling someone to crawl back into their hole because they were defending female genital mutilation while saying circumcision was perfectly fine because uncut penises “looked nasty”.

But I can still access all of reddit. I just can’t comment or upvote/downvote anything. And the nsfw instance of lemmy is a shit show of having to constantly block the same content over and over because there’s eleventy billion versions of the same community.

The irony of that is after I threw it I screamed “You have one fucking job! BE a dvd player!”

Had a dvd player that would skip all the time even if it was a brand new dvd. Got pissed off and threw it at the wall. Girlfriend plugged it back in a couple hours later and it never skipped again.

There’s a couple for me.

Prioritization of tasks. The flaming pot is more important than the smoking oven.

The ability to move through a dense group of people without disrupting anyone.

Sense of urgency. You need to move with intention and do it quickly.

Injury assessment. You’re not going home because you got 1st degree burns. Grit your teeth and push through. If you cut yourself it’s a different story but unless your skin is sloughing off your fine.

It’s just as bad a symptom in cats. It usually signifies a brain injury. If it doesn’t clear up within a few minutes you should definitely contact a vet

I’m a lifelong cook. Been working in kitchens since I was 15 and I’m currently training to be the sous chef at my current location.

People shit on food service workers but the amount of practical real life skills I’ve acquired over the years has actually come in handy quite a few times.

The fact that there is no discernable difference between an alive body or a dead body when it comes to chemical makeup.

All the pieces are there. All the atoms and molecules are still in the same places. Yet despite this the body is still dead.

Funny how I rarely hear about racism in other countries. Except when someone like me brings up that other countries are also extremely racist but it’s been so normalized it’s not newsworthy.
