You too! Good luck with your project!

There’s a raspi nas card so you can make a raspi a NAS with a lot of sata ports, like 8 or something! It’s called pinas or something. I found a tutorial for creating your own raspi nas but it’s not with the sata card I saw before… Here’s a link :) When you search for “convert raspberry pi into nas” you will find a lot of tutorials and tips.
I’m at a Christmas party with friends so I’m not going to search dive to find the thing I saw right now, but know there’s a sata expansion card for a raspi, I hope you can find what you are looking for!
Making a hole in your closet is something I can recommend, I’m autistic, I love cable management. But if it’s an antiques cabinet I wouldn’t do it. Also, if it’s Ikea or something similar (laminated pressed wood fibers), when you make a hole you break the seal in the top layer so moisture can get in. This can lead to mold in the pressed wood fibers. When your house isn’t cold during the winter and moisture free, it’s not a big issue. Just add small planks on top and the bottom with clamps when making the hole and drill through that, otherwise it will splinter and get ugly. If it’s solid wood, I would definitely make a hole to make the cables invisible.

What’s even more depressing is that there isn’t a proper alternative. Many music streaming services have their own flaws. A friend of mine recommended Deezer, as it has really high quality streams but that one is owned by a Russian oligarch.
Artists are paid the most with Apple music but Apple is a shit company as well. Streaming is all fucked, same with movies / shows.
If you want to support the artists, buy their music on Bandcamp. Musicians are having it hard, they need our support. They deserve our money. It’s the pirate code: pirate from the mega corps and billionaires, support the little guys.

Nice! I totally get it. Just some advice: if you build something for in your closet, make sure it stands on thick rubber feet / mat. Or make a cage suspend from elastic binders. Anything to avoid the vibrations to go into the wood/metal of the closet.
It’s how I have my NAS, also in a closet (next to Tom Cruise)
Some sound isolation pads (soft foam with pointy bits) around it are also an option. Just make sure it gets enough air for cooling. If you need more fresh air from outside, use the silent Noctua fans, they have less air displacement but really are very silent.

You should watch this video:
The dark side of Spotify from Slightly Sociable.
It’s about short AI music created for phone farms to steal royalties away from real artists. It’s a whole business model and Spotify encourages this malicious practice as all those phones use premium to earn money faster, and 33% of that money goes to Spotify. Plus they do other illegal stuff like promote music from stake holder companies over other music.

Why so much SSD storage? Just get SSD’s for you OS and games etc and get HDD’s, maybe put them in a NAS. Much cheaper that SSD’s. You don’t need the speed for data storage.

How much of that music is AI generated slob?

It’s amazing to see all the effort we all put in perfecting technology to long-term store our porn. 360TB? I’d like to order 2 please.

I don’t understand the down votes. People do not agree with AAA games being shit? Because they are successful at being boring expensive bug simulators at most. Or they don’t agree with all the Hollywood slop being the same old boring feel-good happy ending shit? Or the fact that you pay indie devs who actually make proper content worth it’s money, as this is in a piracy group?
I really don’t get it. I totally agree with you.
If you want something good to watch, look into European films and series. There’s a Danish-Swedish detective series called Brøn (the Bridge) for example. It’s a really good. Or Wallander. Also Gaspar Noé makes really good movies. Just prepare to feel sick after, they’re really horrible and heavy. The British series Utopia (2013) is also really nice. Often European producers don’t follow the standard boring and predictable Hollywood formula.
Don’t steal from honest people. Steal from predatory companies and asshole billionaires instead. It’s the pirate code!

Whatever series I follow will be automatically downloaded with sonarr. But I recently downloaded Star Trek Voyager, I almost finished season 1 so I’ll probably continue watching that during Christmas.

I really like the game Necesse. It’s 17 euros I think. Schedule 1 is also nice. Also other small indie games are nice. They deserve our money. AAA games are fucked, they deserve to be pirated. Getting a steam deck with a 20 euro gift card is weird, as it’s much more than that. Is go for a nice indie game with very or overwhelmingly positive review. And check YouTube reviews/gameplay to check if it’s something you’d like.

Time to sell my never used old steam controller

When I go into Steam and see a nice game, I buy it. Only in the user agreement it states that purchased games are merely a service and can be revoked at any time for any reason.

I believe there are free VPN services. Maybe Proton has a free version? I know they offer a basic free version for Vivaldi browser. Just make sure they provider doesn’t log traffic.
Now is black Friday, some VPN services are 75% off, that may be an option if you have at least something to spare. Sure, it’s money, but a fine for illegal downloading costs much more.
Otherwise public wifi spots but speeds are probably shit.
Another option is installing Tails on a bootsble USB stick and connect through tor. But then speeds are also shit.

Your argument is basically “according to their made up rules it doesn’t work like that, so your arguments are bullshit”.
That sounds a lot like defending them.
As a customer you basically have zero rights, when you sign their user agreements. Even when a restaurant kills your partner in a themepark, because they once signed the user agreement for their streaming service (Disney). As a pirate I have more rights than paying customers. You can say what you want but this is factually true. Legally it works like this.
So when I get angry about how they force people into their fucked up world with stupid rules and restrictions they made up, you may be right it doesn’t work like that when you follow their rules. I don’t pay them, I didn’t sign their agreements, so their rules do not apply to me. If I get busted for having an illegal copy of their content I’ll pay a fine and it’s done (happened when I accidentally downloaded something when I went to Germany once).
Back in the days a pirated copy of something was less than the real thing. Worse quality, missing the DVD extras, no updates etc. These days the pirated version has less restrictions and limitations than the real service. No ads, better quality, not lacking behind a season, never pulled from the platform, never broken because they stopped support and only even though it’s an offline game a connection to the now csncelled sever is mandatory, offline download is actual offline download, no locked content like DLC’s, etc.

I’d go for usenet. Only downloading, no uploading. Torrents are shit.

They force it on to us that we cannot own products anymore but instead they are “a service” where we are stripped of our rights, are costantly fed with restrictions locked behind more payments and broken products never to be finished as they don’t care about it: they already got their money. And since we don’t have rights, as stated in the user agreements, we can just go fuck ourselves.
So you may be right, that it doesn’t work “like that”, but that’s something those fucked up companies forced upon us without consent. Stop defend those companies dude.

If digital ownership isn’t acknowledged, digital piracy doesn’t exist. It’s just copying something no one owns.
Grok is finally getting things right I see!
