Yeah i’m no programmer but being forced to rely on AWS or any other company for hosting sucks.

Finding could also mean letting users share hosting responsibilities. Like making fediverse similar to torrenting.

I’ve been aware of the fediverse since the api-lypse but have just been lurking for a good while. I really hope we manage to find a social media system that doesn’t bow to censorship. We need to find a way that lets us decentralize servers to not rely on AWS.

Self Moderated is just fine. Why do I need to doxx myself to be online? I’m not giving away my birth certificate or SSN just to post on social media that idea is crazy lmao.

There used to be a way to make Google accounts with no number but that’s probably been patched. I generally refuse to add numbers if I can help it.

Proton, Mailbox & fastmail are all good options. Best way to avoid it is self-hosting but that is beyond most people (as in time-consuming).

If they made it so your average joe could contribute to the Fediverse with their own hardware I’d contribute. Tired of seeing social media be owned by Billionares.

Man I don’t want a future where we doxx ourselves to just be on a PC. Its insane that parents think real ID for gaming is a good idea. Linux might be the only way to escape any of this in the near future.
