Can’t fix or upgrade Macs whatsoever as a layman. That alone guarantees I’ll never purchase one.
I was a bit more interested when Asahi Linux became a thing, but that doesn’t fix Apple’s addiction to planned obsolescence.
(Used windows laptops can just have linux installed on them for a fraction of the price as well.)
Guess that’ll mean Mac gaming will become even more of a dead end then. I use a Linux Distro on an x86 laptop so the concept was just mostly curiosity. Maybe Asahi Linux on the M-series macbooks could be an option for continued support.
Doesn’t MacOS have access to translation layers like Wine/Proton in combination with FEX? (I guess a VM would be nice for compartmentalizing things)
Did 7 have some hidden clause or something that’s not apparent to a user without forensic tools? I remember that revision being pretty swell. (Especially the enterprise branches)

I do get the rationale, but honestly you could just change that to “proprietary software” and you’d have more options with just as much data security.
I wonder if FEX (Valve’s X86 to ARM conversion software) could run this now on an android phone. The game’s freely distributed on PC, so it should be easy to test.
DuckDuckGo uses a basket of search indexes excluding google - so even if one of them enshittifies they can reallocate that portion to another source.
Grayjay’s kind of nice for that since it aggregates results from all platforms in a search - sometimes missing youtube videos (or stuff that got DMCA’d) can be found in peertube instead.
Nebula also works on it as well.

Look at Tuta Mail or Proton Mail as viable privacy focused alternatives.

3D printed (or hybrid material/improvised from everyday object) grenade launchers have existed for a very long time - just usually called “flare launchers” for obvious reasons.
Is that the same rule for destructive devices? Genuinely curious - I know privately made firearms have different rules.

This already would fall under an FFL for legal citizens anyway. As is the nature of the internet though, this open design will be preserved and available for those who seek it.
To a degree this is inevitable, though. Pipe bombs and general IEDs have existed for much longer than this creation, and we’ve long passed the point where the average individual can easily create reliable firearms and ammunition within their own home (FOSSCAD).
This is just the logical conclusion of those who wish to design a more refined and precise IED.

Potentially could be used for things like spreading flame-retardent powder for putting out a wildfire or similar with more precision. Would also remove the risk of a human life in firefighting so areas might be cleared quicker.
