How does their board measure success? As there is a majority of lurkers, what’s the best price of one’s effort?

I wonder if calling their board of directors and investors by name could’ve reached news.
No, you are golden.
It may not be displayed correctly, but it seems you trimmed your own comment on the article but not Gizmodo’s promotion.
Thank you.
There’s an ad in the end if you want to trim it.
This came to a logical problem of naming a coalition by several group names’ initials. And a very loose one at that. I felt the same about the flag updates.
It is a conclusion to what they stand for and why they are created – to get united under one banner to be seen – but at the same time it counters that in how it is disunited in these exact banners, also to be seen and recognized but individually. And a rainbow flag, iirc, wasn’t meant to mean something by each colour in it, lol.
I feel like switching to the name and a flag that don’t include that self-expansion and would just stay the same would be better – but then I catch myself realizing it is nothing other than creating another acronym\flag and asking to be argued by those who promoted these expansion for I deny their effort to gain visibility.
Shit’s a mess.
They’d probably discouraged their workers from new ideas since this one got into news and got copied by other sites. Super good metrics, need to stick with it.
Them posting it now is just fucking a corpse to show user engagement for their IPO or hiding damage they’ve caused. Overall pathetic.
Can we say Gabe’s practice can translate to movies\shows? His products are at least 10hr worth (thus worth subscribing and enjoying an occasional sale), can be further promoted by having multiplayer, cloud saves, achievements…
It’s true this old blood can’t understand pirated MKVs are better than streaming-only DRMed shit. But is there anything they can really do to make their services work?
I think that it’s not a problem of a service itself if it’s not too shitty, but promotional campaign with memes like the one of Squid Games. One can be a Hitler of streaming platforms, but if this show is the new Lost, you’d make a bank anyway.
They also gifted a statuette to u/violentacrez or what’s his handle? for powermodding dozens of nsfw subs, including borderline paedophilic, violent and abusive ones, like revenge porn partners upload after a break up to hurt their ex-couple.
They did great at handling the search of a boston bomber. Fuck ups happen way more often than forum dudes finding ISIS camp by triangulating the sky in a picture. I’m kinda happy to have this viral and well-documented drama to refer.
They rarely ever did their job before the press got involved, or they step into prison sentence territory. My personal favorite waa when altright sub stickied a link to crowdfund a contract killer for a guy who punched a right-wing talking head Robert Spencer on camera. Then, you have fatpeoplehate and other subs that weren’t as dense and worked for years. Right before Spez’s very eyes. Not to say some mass-shooters were frequenting and were inspired by these spaces too.
While modding jailbait is discussed (like, you could promote to a mod role everyone – that’s how he excuse it), these things were consciously enabled by him. He platformed the worst people you can think of. And it sure shall not be forgotten.
Spez sold Reddit for some small $mils before failing his other project and returning as a hired CEO. He is a cheapskate among media magnates. He isn’t clever and is a loser. He adores Elon because he wishes he can throw money around just like him, but on the day’s end he knows he doesn’t have comparable wealth and he is there just because he happened to be around Aaron Swartz and other cool dudes. He himself couldn’t create Reddit. And being the top admin of it now is probably the closest thing in corporate world to cuckolding, for he doesn’t have a word in managing the ‘frontpage of the internet’ he once owned, he just follows what the board says him to. Sad piece of shit he is. Won’t cry about him tho. Let misery fall onto his little empty head.
Muskie-baka can’t figire it out. I feel obliged to help him.
What exactly to thank him for?
They do better than Soviet union, lol.
Nah.
Killing comments and make a subscription-based visibility booster for them and posts seems more like what they want.
Weren’t they a tankie? I’ve heard about it a couple of times on Reddit before joining the fediverse but I don’t have proofs myself.
Nothing positive is needed. It’s an outrage engine that keeps you involved by edging on the max level of disturbance you are comfortable to consume. Seeing, posting reactions, having likes enables you to keep it going.
I love the fact it is stunning for you. It’s heartwarming to know just some of us, including you, arem’t used to the worst possible outcome 😅
TL;DR: I’m no fortune-teller but I feel like they want to change how we perceive and consume Reddit posts: to kill ways of engagement and make you just scroll feed.
I bet they’d add new subscription-based service, something musk-esque, that would promote you to the top of the feed or comment section. In new Reddit there are like a dozen of top comments visible before you tap to show more items. They’d probably be mostly from paid users. Also, no ability to visibly promote others’ posts – it’s bad for PR when something bad gets gold, like advertisements for Lemmy. And, in general, Reddit should (in their vision, imho) be like tiktok, where you just scroll through a queue of curated content – staying in comment section for too long or showing your opinion (with up\downvotes or gold a.k.a superupdoot) is wasting your time while you could as well watch some ads. In this case, killing comments and any kind of active and natural reaction is obvious. As a bonus, there’d be more advertisers, as critique of them won’t get viral and their post won’t get downvoted into hell. Oh, and if their board of managers won’t get booted, downvote button and post stats would be cut next.
Sunsetting? Winding down? What are they? Dolores Ambridge? It sounds like they are sugarcoating a syrup.
You mean their meme review episode? I stopped taking him seriously after that. It’s so bad it has it’s own cringe value.
