  • Yeah… I used to sell Apple gear.

When Apple announced the Mighty mouse 20 years ago, everyone was super excited. There wasn’t much info, and we were almost wondering if it was a touch sensitive button on it.

What we got though was a mouse which gave you RSI any time you clicked the right button.

Now, I have a Mac Studio. Every PC has the power button on the top or front. This guy? Nah, lets put it on the back! And the M2 is a professional machine, so lets ship with 8GB ram only… And MAKE IT SHARED VIDEO MEMORY!

And lets stick an ARM chip with no raytracing on it, because thats what people crave

  • That’s not what happened at all imho.

What killed digg realistically is that it had less control than Reddit and because Kevin Rose blocked posts about the DVD encryption codes and people over reacted to that block. For days digg was full of people simply reposting them (as Digg was worried about getting sued which was fair enough)

Didn’t really have anything to do with politics.

Don’t forget, this was back in the day of fat people hate and Reddit hosting child porn. Reddit administration was never great

Digg admins were actually ok and I never had an issue with them

  • This isn’t college.

And that’s not how AI works.

AI literally just copies bits of lots of sources and cobbles it together.

It has no idea what any of it means. We learn via experience. AI models won’t

If I write a reference book, I need to reference my source if I’m quoting things. Even if I saw it in 2 different books .

    AI does not

Question… if there is only 1 source of information on a topic, and AI needs to reference it, what happens? It basically just copies it and changes a few words. No reference to the original author. It doesn’t even know.

If I read a book into a podcast and change a few words, take credit and don’t give any to the original author is that ok?

It’s not AI. That’s a marketing term like blockchain. Its just a combined data scraper with some random data.
