When I installed pop! Os (on my ssd) it was laggy and a little glitchy, it’s like the whole os would just freeze up sometimes. It really got on my nerves. I prefer nobara, it’s so snappy and fast, everything just feels better than windows, and it’s way more customizable. But there is definitely a higher learning curve and some small weird glitches you have to deal with so I wouldn’t recommend it to someone without intermediate knowledge

I think it should be supported for a decade and the open sourced so that it can be archived and maintained by those who care.

All I’m saying is generally when those in big tech establish a non profit, it’s for the wrong reasons, or it eventually becomes the wrong reasons. Look at open AI. They had a non profit and and profit side. The non profit side essentially controlled with the for profit side did, then when they ousted the CEO for doing things that were clearly in the interest of profit over the betterment of society, the CEO had set it up so that without him the open AI ship began to sink. Then those on the board that were against him were ousted from the board. It was a hostile takeover.

I’m not saying that’s going to happen with mastadon, I’m just saying they have some key players that are investors and/or long time workers in big tech and it puts a bad taste in my mouth.

Welp, don’t like that. US nonprofit is a huge misnomer. For the most part they’re used by the wealthy to create businesses that don’t need to pay taxes.

Edit: Not sure why I’m getting mass downvotes. The non profit system in America is where the wealthy go to create tax free income. The CEOs of non profits still get huge salaries. Just seems out of line with the vision of a true non profit IMO. That’s why I call it a misnomer. Non profits are almost never set up to do what they actually say they are trying to do. They’re often just created to get public favor and money laundering.

I find in today’s society it’s easy to lose any reason for doing anything other than “I was told I have to” about halfway through college it really did feel like a scam, like I was getting screwed over and forced to do it anyway. I still believe it’s partially true, but I used the skills I learned in college to help push my personal life goals along.

Ask yourself, will you be happy doing what you’re going to school for? Is the goal you’re going towards what you actually want to do? Will it help you do what you actually want to do? If you find good reasons for those, the next time you ask yourself “why am I doing any of this?” You’ll have an answer. If not, well, maybe it’s time to change your concentration, or seek out paths other than college.

Just remember that you also do need to think about affording to live (unfortunately) in all of this.

I believe there is another method where you can intercept an SMS text somehow. I read about it a while back so I don’t know the specifics, but I know that since SMS is unsecure there is a way to grab the data while it’s being sent to you

There are ways to calculate a batteries remaining life, usually you’d have a chip dedicated to tracking all of that. They can tell you a battery’s history, health, estimated charge capacity etc. So if the station detects a batteries life is low or it’s marked as chaged but it’s charged significantly below it’s initial capacity it can be taken out of rotation and inspected and fixed/disposed of if need be.

Personally I wonder, once we have interchangeable batteries, if it will be more common to have several smaller, shorter life span batteries that add up to a certain range. That way the recharge station only has to change out the batteries with a lower charge, and even if the battery system trips up and you get a borked battery your range would be slightly reduced not completely gone or halved

No they never forced them but they said “hey here’s this really awesome sandboxed platform that runs on almost any os, and it’s a modern browser!” That’s really enticing to a platform like steam where most of their app is web based. Steam isn’t a desktop application, it’s a hybrid application that needs a web browser. Do you know how hard it is to upkeep a modern browser? There’s a reason it’s pretty much only chromium and Mozilla making browsers. It’s not laziness, it made sense, and Google was the only one making anything like that at the time for developers to use.

Once Google had the market share, they started making changes that they knew would affect everyone using their platform, and that’s how they wanted it.
