Those labels aren’t for you, they’re for the store, so they don’t have potentially unsafe food on the shelf.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why the hell is the roof of our mouths so thin?
441·16 days agoIt’s probably an advantage. You want your mouth to hurt so you stop there rather than damaging something more internal like your throat or stomach.

193·23 days ago“Expensive and exclusive” is part of the brand.
That’s why the MacBook Neo is putting up numbers, because it’s expensive and exclusive. /s
IME Apple phones often end up cheaper over the life of the device because they get updates for 5+ years. Not everyone needs a Pro with maxed out specs. They’re hardly exclusive, either; have you seen how common they are? Every other person in the states has an iPhone. They’re often giving them away with cell phone plans. Getting a previous gen iPhone is probably one of the best values because it’s still fast and will be supported for years to come, but it’s significantly discounted.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you change the default luggage code from '000' to another code?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you change the default luggage code from '000' to another code?
4·1 month agoYou said there’s no point. I contend there is a point.
The point is to make it slightly less convenient to steal from. This is the purpose of literally all locks. There are no locks that can’t be picked or bypassed. I don’t care if it’s my underwear, pants, shirts, shoes, whatever. They’re mine and I packed them because I want to use them. I’d prefer they’re not stolen, and some of my clothes are valuable, or at least I don’t want to spend the money to replace them.
Maybe someone’s just having a shit day and wants to fuck with luggage to be obnoxious. I’d rather it not be mine, and a lock makes my bag slightly more annoying to fuck with.
Agreed that a lost bag is much more likely than theft. I have an AirTag in my bag to help with that scenario.

Thank you for being the someone else.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you have an app that you use for a unique or uncommon purpose?
3·2 months agoShould have read more, I wasn’t aware that was part of the question. I’m just posting about niche usage apps I like. I don’t use them often, but they’re essential for their niche.
Idk if this counts, but I use the Reminders app on my phone to create packing lists for work travel. Very easy to uncheck everything then re-check off things as you pack them. Keep building a perpetual packing list and you’ll never forget things. Lists in general are awesome for offloading cognitive workload.
RunPee will alert you when there’s a lull in a movie so you can sneak away to take a leak. Includes a plot summary of what you missed while you pissed.
RPM app - I use this for ensuring my turntable is spinning at the correct RPM.
I’ve got a Dolby app on my Mac that I use for encoding or decoding Dolby B/C tape recordings because I’m a cassette nerd. Super niche.
I also enjoy GPS raw data apps for seeing how fast my airplane is going when it takes off.
If I think of any more I’ll post again.
Android Auto, I assume.
