United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•Ohio Republicans Refuse To Accept Election Results, Claim Abortion Bans Will Remain
34·2 years agoThe really weird part was this:
The amendment’s language is dangerously vague and unconstrained, and can be weaponized to attack parental rights or defend rapists, pedophiles, and human traffickers.
I mean I know that they love to mix things together, but this might be the first time I’ve seen abortion linked to pedophilia and supporting rapists.

16·2 years agoJust as an aside, donating does not have to be monetary. Helping (if possible) with development, triaging issues or helping with support/forums of any kind, along with in general filing good issues goes miles for FOSS projects, especially larger ones with only a few developers.

5·2 years agoWow, a whopping 100k from Shopify, that’s awesome!
Surprisingly I was just looking and there are a ton of active mods still in development. Pretty cool.
This reminds me of how upset I was to break my Battlefront CD when I was younger. One of those games you had to enter the CD for to start. Needless to say, that was what started my torrent and crack experience.
Such a great game. The mods and third party maps were awesome. No edition after the first ever lived up to that, especially this new crap they came out with.

Firefox@lemmy.ml•Firefox starting to remove tracking parameters from shared URLs
8·2 years agoYea, existing extensions get things wrong sometimes. I’m sure this will be the same - especially if sites start changing things to temporarily circumvent. Needs to be an easy way to grab the real URL just in case.

4·2 years agoI wish people (especially just regular ol’ people, not big names) realized that if they started using Mastodon or BlueSky their engagement would go up tremendously. I’ve had full blown huge threads with all sorts of people on both platforms, even when I had literally just made my account.
On Twitter you’re lucky to even get a like on a post unless it’s some hot take on a political topic.

Technology@lemmy.world•X runs ‘timeline takeover’ ad promoting anti-trans filmEnglish
11·2 years agoYep. I could see people sticking around if there were not viable alternatives. And while those alternatives have indeed been around for a good while, they are very available now. There’s really no excuse now.
Now, while I do think Mastodon is the better platform, I’m curious to see how BlueSky affects Twitter’s user base once it comes out of its “beta”. For all of its faults, it does have the smallest learning curve - if really any at all - when comparing it to Twitter.

1·2 years agoThe most noticeable thing when I went back to the site with a fresh account (unfortunately there are still a few real niche communities that I want to participate in that refuse to move) I was inundated with a bunch of right wingy content. New subs like “true unpopular opinion” parrot a bunch of shitty views disguised as “conversations”. Lots of racism, homophobia, and other terrible shit now there right in the open on the home feed.
Well spez was a moderator on that sub…

18·3 years agoThanks for the congrats! I’m glad you guys are ironing these issues out, really hope you guys get up soon too. If you have any questions about what all Apple complained about or what you need to include to get approved, shoot me a PM or you can add me on Discord, g_k_d . Or, if you guys have a Matrix let me know.
Edit: Just saw you guys have a Matrix link in the post. I’ll just drop in and you can message me if you have questions.

Completely agree! Gnome is nice but never been able to move past KDE if I had to pick a full blown DE.
