Technology@lemmy.world•Fujifilm reportedly working on 180MP medium format cameraEnglish
9·19 days agoAI generated detail is not something anyone wants in an actual camera, it usually looks odd. but i doubt 180mp vs 50mp is going to make much difference other than massive file size

Technology@lemmy.world•Sorry Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that! PCs refuse to shut down after Microsoft patchEnglish
7·23 days agoto be fair, during the past few years that I’ve used mint and kubuntu, not being able to shutdown, restart or suspend has been a pretty common issue 😅 so it’ll be a nice familiarity for people migrating from windows

1·1 month agomy first pc was a vista laptop, i downloaded some awesome windows themes and cursors from deviantart. once i tried to replace the start menu orb, but the image file i replaced must’ve been the vista logo that comes up at boot. it didn’t boot anymore.

53·1 month ago200 km range in the summer means 100 km in the winter. i live in finland and i frequently need to drive 100+km away from home. nearest ikea is 130 km away, relatives living in other cities, etc. i imagine it’s the same for a lot of people, not just in the US.

62·1 month agoahhh I’ve been waiting for a new layout, too bad i probably won’t get to use it since they won’t fix the bug/feature that keeps the pc awake and screen on with a black image after an episode finishes (when autoplay off). will be forever stuck in player 1.9.1.

2·1 month agohated my 3060 ti because of the ridiculously loud fans. the lowest speed for the fans was 1600 rpm and at that speed it howled like a wolf. it would frequently turn them on even when idle as the temps went above 55.
very happy with my new sapphire 9070 xt, it stays perfectly silent no matter what i throw at it.
the tablet fiasco, they didn’t ship them and they only refunded to a few people. media was not interested in it at all. and the largest shareholder is or at least used to be some russian government entity

Linux@lemmy.ml•My KDE Neon won't suspend automatically...what's blocking power management?
2·2 months agoi had the autosuspend issue with mint. tried to troubleshoot it for two years. every now and then i thought i found the solution, but weeks or months later the issue reappeared, and i swear i started balding because of that shit! thought it might be because I’m using a tv as a monitor, but other distros didn’t have the same issue, they just had much worse issues. recently tossed my nvidia and got an amd gpu, switched to ultramarine kde. I’m living with a lot of minor bugs now, but it suspends! funny thing is that mint didn’t recognize the tv after waking from suspend after switching to amd…
