Yeah, doesn’t seem that the proposed bill offers meaningful improvements. The article says

Under current New Hampshire law, voters are asked to provide proof of identity and age (usually a driver’s license), proof that they live where they want to vote, and proof of citizenship (either a birth certificate or a passport) in order to be able to register and vote.

It’s only if a person doesn’t have a proof of citizenship, they can sign a sworn affidavit to register or vote, which will be checked by attorney general office after elections.

This looks to me as a solid system already. One cannot vote by impersonating someone else, one cannot vote if you are not living in the district, one can only lie about citizenship with a significant risk of that lie to be exposed after elections with all legal consequences.

Unless you belive that damn liberals moving buses of illegals with forged IDs to steal the elections, there is nothing much to be worried about.

I’m running Nextcloud from a Turnkey LXC template that’s available in Proxmox. Runs solid, I have no complaints for performance or stability. But upgrades are manual and very involved. It’s not too complicated, but there is always something that needs extra attention or troubleshooting. I also wasn’t able to figure out Turnkey migration toolset that they suggest to use for major upgrades, such as to new version of OS.

I have Odroid-N2 with CoreELEC. Works as my media center in living room, but I use it only to stream video from my jellyfin server.

The only problem I have is that I have to control it from a phone app, not a remote. There are ways to do that, but I couldn’t be bothered

I have a small standalone speaker, not good for TV. I doesn’t want to link with my Google profile, so no voice control from Assistant. So the only way to use it is from their app, or maybe casting

Sonos speaker. I have Google Home speakers around the house and we use them to play music. Sonos almost never get used

A company would use a Microsoft 365 plan that includes Outlook for Office 365, not a Windows Mail app. An the MS365 agreement would come with protections of company data from sharing with advertisers.

In other words, I wouldn’t worry if my company used Outlook. But never log in to your private mailbox from a corporate device.

That’s what I mostly do now. But it requires some extra work, as some apps are not available in Ubuntu DEB repository. Also, I don’t like the approach that Canonical takes, pushing snaps so much

I really like GNOME. I know not enough about security of it compared to Cinnamon

I see your point… I use Debian for my self-hosted environment, so having similar system on desktop may save some cognitive load. My main arguments against Debian are (maybe misinformed though):

• No btrfs support in installer OK, Debian wiki says it’s there
• Major annual upgrades to keep up with stable look more scary than more incremental and frequent updates of Fedora. And using Sid as someone suggested sounds too crazy for main PC

So yeah, looks like it’s just upgrades… Gives me something to think about while I’m moving my apps to flatpaks

Bookmarks and passwords are taken care of. And for the apps I’ll try to get migrated to flatpaks as many as I can while still on original system.

I also see that full disk encryption is being recommended a lot, and I don’t have any solid reasons to encrypt only /home.

I have not given much thought on Silverblue. Is it “flatpak-only”? If so I’ll need to go through my apps to see if that could work. And my backup strategy will need to change - I use Duplicacy that is not available as a Flatpak
