  • Highly dependent on the job. I’m a SW who hires SWs. New grad LMSWs can start at $60K in hospitals or some government jobs, or $40K in schools or some nonprofits. 5-10 years of experience and a clinical license and you’ll easily pull $75-80K, or $90K+ in management.

    Then there’s private psychotherapy practice, which I know some people who charge $200/hour out of pocket and are scheduled out for months.

    All this to say getting a master’s in social work was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and I have no regrets financially, but there are some people who do end up in very low paid jobs






  • You might’ve insulated your garage door, but did you weatherize it? You can get decent weather stripping to go along all 4 edges of the door to block off the cracks. As far as insulating your garage ceiling, it’s something I’ve considered too, but one thing I don’t have an answer too is how that would affect the airflow or code compliance for my gas furnace and gas water heater, which are both in the garage.

    Also, when we did an exterior remodel, we discovered there was no insulation in the exterior garage wall, only in the walls shared with the interior of the house, so you may be contending with that. We had that wall insulated when we did the renovation, and it made a noticeable difference. I’ve also planted trees to shade that garage wall, otherwise it gets blasted with afternoon sun.

    If I had the energy and time, I would put batt insulation above the garage ceiling and also replace my attic stairs, which are old and poorly sealed. A mini split AC would also be pretty sweet.

  • If you think you have a deficiency, explain why to a doctor. A blood test to know for sure is simple. A doctor will know what kind of supplementation would best serve you, and there may be an underlying reason that can be treated to fix it.

    I didn’t say “no one should take supplements ever,” I said most people who take supplements are doing so unnecessarily, and you should do so under the supervision of a physician.


  • Are you finding yourself deficient in vitamin K based on some symptom you’re experiencing? Vitamin K is in soybeans, cashews, broccoli, chicken, grapes, blueberries, and a bunch of oils, including soybean, olive, and canola oils, and the list goes on and on. Vitamin K deficiency in adults is extremely rare.

    Like every other vitamin and mineral, eating average healthy (and even lots of unhealthy) foods will meet your RDA.


  • Vitamin and mineral supplements. You only need supplementation if you have a specific deficiency, and deficiencies are not extremely common. Most people who take supplements do not need them and are just peeing out all the extra things they’re putting in their bodies while shelling out ridiculous prices to “natural remedy” companies.
