I don’t think you read past the second sentence of my comment in your rush to tell me I’m wrong. The rest of my comment underlines why the theory is useless. The opening is just defining why they might define a loss of noncompetes as causing irreparable harm.

I also don’t think it’s an effective strategy to solely paint the picture of the oppressed worker with hyperbolic statements and zero nuance. The worker is the oppressed person in this case and needs the advocacy for sure but you don’t win by being disingenuous

Well in theory it would, wouldn’t it? Isn’t that the point of the non compete? I have you sign it because if you utilize the skill set I gave you in the specific geographic area then my business will be harmed by you poaching clientele that would have otherwise come to me.

It’s another way of saying “fuck new small businesses, established businesses should be allowed to continue to consolidate power at the expense of everyone who comes after them” though. Aka fuck you, got mine.

It undermines capitalism. I’m not a capitalist but I thought the whole point of capitalism was to let the services and products duke it out on merit and let the best one win by letting the market decide. This is just another way we subvert capitalist ideals. we let the players who already have capital cheat to entrench their positions further and give themselves even more of an unfair advantage over anyone entering against them.

If I’m “New shop” going up against “5th generation store worth 8 million dollars with 10 locations” the odds are already hugely stacked against me, but now if I work for them and sign a noncompete I basically am barred from playing before I even try. Let alone that metaphor barely even works anymore because 99% of the time “5th generation store” is actually “global conglomerate worth 5 trillion dollars that has an army of lawyers who will either acquire you or sue you into oblivion the millisecond you become a threat”

That shit goes back way before reddit. It was a problem on digg, on 4chan, somethingawful and other vbulletin forums, Usenet, etc. it will be a problem here and every place that comes after

Flac 44.1 16bit level 3. Host with something that meets your needs. I have my files in jellyfin and navidrome and can then access the library remotely either through jellyfin web client, navidrome web client, substreamer, Finamp, kodi, etc. but this way if another amazing format comes up down the line I will always have my library in a good state to transcode from. Tag and sort everything with beets.io (or musicbrainz picard is great, I just like that beets is cli). This results in a library I can access on my phone, laptop, tv, carplay, etc

Technically you could go for 24bit but imo the extra file size isn’t justified. though one could make that argument for flac vs 320cbr mp3, transcoding 320 mp3 is more likely to create artifacts, thus the reason for keeping around flac

Alac may be easier for you if you use mac

Logitech has been making atrociously shitty fucking internet based software for pretty decent hardware since the first harmony remote back in 2001. Only buy their hardware if it absolutely will never require software of any kind imo

Are you sure? I thought they were restoring my comments but it was a combo of several things:

The user profile page only shows about 1000 posts so sometimes when you clears out your account a few older ones pop up. If you sort by hot/new/month/year/etc you will find more

If a subreddit was private for the protest (some still are even now) and came back up (some are coming back up even now for some reason) the posts will suddenly repopulate your feed

Those are the main ones. That said, I wouldn’t be shocked if Reddit was doing this as the library of content is a huge part of their valuation

Get your data from their gdpr request tool and use it to erase your account with shreddit or redact.dev. Don’t delete your Reddit account just yet; once it’s deleted you can no longer delete or edit posts. Consider just editing the posts instead of deleting so that Reddit archives are permanently updated with nonsense. File a request with pushshift to have your data removed as well (which is significantly easier, just a google form). Note that it’s something you’ll have to keep checking in on as Reddit is actively working to break these tools - afaik redact.dev doesn’t work to delete Reddit posts at the moment; it will let you view your Reddit posts but if you attempt to delete them it will immediately deauth your account but the devs are actively working on this and are pretty responsive and confident they’ll have a fix. Shreddit seems to still work, at least the rust build, but that’s not as user friendly

Bots count as active users on the metrics, I’m sure Reddit admins see this as a huge win
