Congratulations? People pirate for a variety of reasons. No one reason is superior to the other. You gonna tell us you’re vegan and use arch, too?
Wise man say- forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza. 🍕

Yeah this post seems kinda sus considering how many times they’ve avoided saying what game it is. And not wanting to use Steam at all? Steam is the one corp you can still have some trust in. I see a post like this and it reeks of them doing something most likely illegal in a bad way, or they are a bad actor trying to fuck with our shit again. Either that or they’re a weeb that’s too embarrassed to name the furry porn game they’re looking for.
My laptop is pretty dang portable. It may not fit in a pocket or what have you, but I carry a backpack anyway. And does windows provide emulators? I just pulled up a huge list, right on Discover Software Center and there are at least a couple different emulators for every major (and even some minor) console, handheld, arcade, and even a DOS emulator for DOS games. Hell, I even have Space Cadet Pinball on this thing. Yeah I’ve pirated on windows, and it’s not as easy, unless you’re talking about music production software, but that’s a whole other beast. Don’t get me wrong, Steam Deck is awesome and I would love to get one, but $650 is a hefty chunk of change for a lot of people, and considering I’m trying to save up for a Framework, I’m not interested in spending that kind of money right now.
Fuck the MPAA
I didn’t even buy a Steam Deck, I just switched to Linux, which is essentially what you did, just expensively.
Laughing? More like yelling.
Thank you so freaking much. I’m just getting started learning all this stuff and you’ve made my searching much, much easier. Sorry if I seem kinda wired— I’m already mainlining coffee for this undertaking!
Thanks for the info! Hopefully I’ll have less issue because the machine I’m on now (the one I’ll be Linux-ifying) is all AMD. I’m trying to do away with Windows in my life, but I have a well-curated collection of games, some of which are m+k only (like Bitburner) and while once I get a Deck that’ll be my main gaming platform, I still want to be able to plug a controller into my computer and blow some shit up.
Completely new to (just started looking into using) Linux. Steam Deck runs on Linux, so why is it so difficult to play games on Linux? I understand a lot of people probably don’t want to use Steam for one reason or another (pirating, access to games not available on Steam, etc.), but for those that aren’t anti-Steam, what gives?
You’re doing god’s work.
Oh, absolutely. But even most small shows are done through Ticketbastard these days, unless it’s like some backyard or county fair type thing.
Fuck the shows, too. That money goes to Ticketbastard. Buy their merch, directly if possible.
Looking at their recent actions, they would definitely seem to be pretty fuckin dumb.
Ha! You beat me to it. My dad loved that joke.
“Do you have honeymoon salad?”
“What’s honeymoon salad?”
“Lettuce alone, without dressing.”
As an elder Millennial, they can’t even get their generations right, for one. We Millennials are the ones that were there when the ISPs began providing these email services, mixed heavily with the more nerdy of the Gen Xers. We adopted the standalone email services when they came about, leaving the Boomers to the ISP provided services because they didn’t know any better and are very slow to adapt, if at all.
I love how he DAREs TO BE STUPID about it. I guess it could get EVEN WORSE if he went OFF THE DEEP END.
What about with something like Soulseek? I’m just getting into using it and still have no idea how to optimize using it, and doing so safely.
Yes, because it’s the most prevalent, and because while you can still buy vinyl (if the label even offers it and I’m not strapping a turntable to my back when I go out), other formats (namely CDs) are rarely offered, and I don’t know how iTunes works these days, but that is/was also subject to the whims of the platform, just like most any other digital library (ie; Steam, Playstation, XBox, etc.).
Thanks for the tip!
You got $30? Some of us are so poor that even $30 has to be planned and budgeted for. And most places want all $30 for the year up front and won’t split it up into monthly payments. Not everyone can just plop down $30 at a moment’s notice.
