Open source is only as useful as the contributors and reviewers. Finding things after the fact helps noone.
People need to stop revering open source as the solution to humanity’s problems and treat it as a useful tool, nothing more.
Generally speaking, any service or organization that has to pay youtubers or twitch streamers to drive traffic is…a racket. Avoid like the plague.
I don’t see a conundrum to be solved.
As a Windows user that dabbles in Mac but is definitely not an expert, I get seriously frustrated when I try to share my screen in ??? meeting product only to have to adjust permissions and be told I probably need to restart the app (in the middle of a meeting). I’ve found other minor nags with MacOS along the same lines. They are trivial at best, but can be seriously interrupting. I agree with the high security defaults, but the UX could be improved.
Responding to you because you’re the most verbal here so far. I recently upgraded from an m1 pro 14" to an m2 max 16". Leagues above anything else on the market, IMO. But people still seem to be sticking to the M1 praise. Is it just market lag, or is there something about the M1 specifically?
They don’t make docs like they used to. For what it’s worth, those “…for Dummies” books were never going to make anyone an expert on anything, but every one of them I’ve ever read was the most densely packed set of comprehensible information on the subject available at the time.
The mice are running the litterbox over there, indeed.
Reddit is a complete and utter shithole.
This. I’ve had a Lemmy account for a while but reddit suspended me yesterday for calling someone stupid - after they made disparaging remarks about someone else. Their account was untouched. I know because I saw posts dated after my suspension.
I don’t know if Lemmy will work out or not, but Reddit has proven they’re not fit to moderate any significant portion of the web’s content and I can’t be bothered to consume and contribute in that environment any longer. I submitted an account deletion request with an extra slice of my mind on the matter.
We’ve had one misdirection yes, but what about second furry China men?
The only non-techies I know that use Chrome are those I have installed Chrome for.
Most people who “just use the computer” these days DO use edge, in my experience.
Skynet, eventually.
