For a layman this sounds counterintuitive. Get non personalised ads sounds like you are going to be bombarded with obscene ads which you don’t want. But in reality it’s way worse turning it on. I was suprised I had it turned on for a very long time because when I made my account it sounded like that.

The post the other day about lemmy needing more users and engagement gave a little nudge to me commenting more. I guess same thing happened with many users and you can see the spike in the graph.

This. We are in huge lack of sports discussion here on lemmy. I’m looking at other places for sports content because it’s just not here. I miss live threads.

Yeah we are not using slurs enough. Other platforms are openly racist and therefore have better user engagement coz it’s “funny” being openly racist.

A follow-up question on this topic, how often do you guys go back and check out these memories? Because I seemed to have developed an habit of clicking videos and photos but never checking them and when I check them after a long while, I literally have 0 memory of that scene.

I think It’s one thing to have these memories stored somewhere digitally and one thing to have them registered in our heads. It’s an odd feeling when you look a old video and feel “did I really do that?” Does anybody else relate to this?

Yeah ever since channels were added I am using that tab much lesser. And oh nobody texts me anymore either.

I just checked the YouTube channel and wow this is like a goldmine to me! Surprised how this channel never got recommended to me by YT algorithm from how much of calisthenics content I was watching. Will be checking their app too!

Reading this title, I was like as the doomer guy myself, “hah nothing achieved this year” and it then clicked in my head that I was actually doing some pushups and squats in my home on consistent basis.

I am very lean guy with my weight usually hanging around the underweight to healthy weight but I’ve started to develop some belly which is very noticeably to the people around me. So I decided to do some very basic body weight exercises -pushups and squats.

I started with not being able to do 2-3 pushups a day to current personal best of 12 pushups in one go! I have visible enough biceps and triceps now too :P (highlighted as a tldr answer)

I still haven’t figured out the right way to go about my calisthenics journey with proper plans and programs, it feels kinda tough to find proper resources for a complete beginner, so if you know a really good resource do share it with me! I’d would’ve have a calisthenics focused community on lemmy too.

There are billions of free users available. All they need to do is strip-off few excellent features of their free model and hide it behind a pay wall annnnd voila these free users have now became their paying customers!

The companies that enshittify their service never actually care about their premium service. They provide a service which is good enough for free users and a pro version for power users. Later once they amass a critical userbase, they slowly make their free service shitty and ask users to pay to get their good-enough service back. Free users were their focus all along and these premium users are there just to pay some of their costs.

This is a case of corporation taking advantage of technically idiotic userbase, which is most of the general public. OpenAI using a dark pattern so that users can’t easily unchecked that box nor making that text that says “this can be indexed by search engines” brightly visible.

The amount of people around me who are actively depending on their AI chatbots, trusting them so much so that they treat it like their personal companion, enjoying AI generated content on these short-form content platforms, putting up their AI ghibili profile pics on their social media, is very concerning. It’s sad state we have reached and it will go worse from here on.
