It was an impressive demonstration of a car that likely will come with some heavy caveats and restrictions if it ever goes into production.

    It won’t.

The event was less than 30 minutes and felt more like a stunt show than a product reveal.

    Because that’s what it was.

Indeed, there was no mention of price, trim levels, release date, or other such mundane details.

Because it’s not a legitimate consumer product and it never will be.

As a product reveal, this is nothing short of blatant fraud. I guarantee there was nothing inside that shell but gas tanks and thrusters.

Musk has done this before. His solar roof tiles were made by an LA prop company. I’m sure if he showed a magic blood testing box people would invest billions.

The solar roof tiles were a real working product, they were just unprofitable even at very high price Tesla were selling them for. I briefly looked into them when I got solar panels installed at my previous home and it was about 50% more expensive thab replacing my roof and and getting traditional solar panels installed combined.

They never happened. Putting PV panels on the shady side of a roof was as brilliant as Hyperloop.

You think they didn’t know how much they would cost to make?

What do you mean they never happened? I know for a fact there were installs done with them and they were still offering them for installation in some area for years because I priced them out. They just didn’t get many people to go for it because the price was ludicrous and the product was unproven. Also, you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about with solar panels, if your roof is a good candidate for panels there isn’t some “shady side”.

In all fairness they tried horribly in Nevada called the Vegas Loop where tunnels were built under the city to speed up transport using driverless teslas to get to like several points as quick as possible. I think it was a flop though. Its the big reason why companies shouldnt be making these things and instead should be government projects for infrastructure improvement. Mixing profit with necessity never works.

The car company told us why subways simply don’t work well. Totally legit. The contract was also won in a competition called “who can make a good public transportation system”, so pay no attention to the car company taking the winnings away from the train and bus companies.

For the significantly fewer in society who aren’t at all negatively affected by the vast majority benefiting by the elimination of car infrastructure and building of walkable cities and public transportation?

Literally nothing, aside from now also having trains to the bigger cities and busses in their smaller towns.

          I did not said that.
My “people who don’t live in cities” means “for people who don’t live in the city and don’t need to go in the city”, not everyone need a city in their lives.

And in this case, train and bus are not an option for most of the times.

Nobody is saying you can’t have a car as a person not living in a city, we are talking about how cities don’t need to be filled with cars if cities were filled with decent public infrastructure.

And if you don’t live in a city and don’t plan on going to a city why does it even concern you if cars get banned from cities?

Is it still the “norm” when it concerns less than 20% of the people that make up society? They didn’t say cars shouldn’t exist at all, just that they shouldn’t be the norm.

Not to mention they wrote “busses, trains” before talking about something exclusive to cities.
